So, what is adac
ADAC - Allgemeiner Deutscher Automobil-Club is a German independent research institute, one of the largest organizations in Europe, testing car seats for safety. The independence of the research is proven by the fact that it is ADAC, together with its partners, that selects the car seat models to be tested.
The choice depends on the popularity of a particular product on the German market. An additional factor influencing the selection is product's innovation. Car seats of various weight and height ranges are tested in ADAC safety tests.
The selected car seat goes through 4 stages of tests, because each parameter is checked in a different, independent research center. ÖAMT from Austria monitors ease of operation, TCS from Switzerland - test ergonomics, Stiftung Warentest form Germany checks the car seats for chemical substances and ADAC verifies safety. The results are published twice a year.

Safety - crash tests are carried out in much more strict conditions than the applicable norm standards - frontal collision at a speed of 64 km / h and side impacts. The latest, advanced generation Q-type dummy is used for this. All seat configurations approved by the manufacturer are tested.
Operation - the comfort and convenience of the child in the car seat are assessed, as well as fastening and unfastening the seat belts, the softness of the upholstery and other elements with which the small passenger comes into contact. The ease of the material cleaning is also tested. This category is assessed by a group of people who are not experienced in the use of car seats, and as a result all the difficulties in assembly and use can be detected. The clarity of the operating instructions is also checked.
Ergonomy - this category examines the assembly and disassembly of the car seat and how the seat behaves in everyday use.
Chemical substances - testing the material and all elements of the car seat for harmful substances (in case of our seat, the number of tested substances was 71). If the presence of harmful substances is found during the test, the seat automatically receives the lowest score, regardless of the results in the other categories.
